Science and practice of athletic development for soccer
We will discuss fundamental concepts of athletic development as it pertains to speed, strength, power, change of direction and endurance related capacities.
We will cover critical concepts of training theory as well as best practice of means and methods to maximize the development of your athletes.
We will also examine how these concepts can be implemented in team sport settings.
Learning objectives :
- Students will learn key concepts for speed, strength, power, change of direction and endurance related capacities.
- Students will leave with the knowledge to design sessions and training programs to develop these qualities.
- This course is ideally for students, sports coaches, physios, PT’s and other sports performance coaches.
About Mike
Dr Mike Young is the director of performance at Athletic Lab sports performance training center and the performance director for the North Carolina Courage and the North California FC professional football clubs.
In track and field Mike was on the coaching staff than won 6 team NCAA championships at LSU.
He has been the high performance director for 4 professional soccer clubs.
